A recent survey revealed that out of a 1000 parents half of them did not know the correct procedure for helping their child or how to clear the obstruction. A third of these parents had witness their child choking.
Many first aid charities, including St John Ambulance, are issuing new advice to parents on how to treat a choking child. They are recommending that every household has the new first aid manual (available 3rd March) so that they have the information to hand in case of any emergency.
The video is forty seconds long but could help to save a child in the event of an emergency.
