Being the parent of a disabled child can be extremely stressful and even isolating.
Sharing tips and advice with other parents in the same position is a great way of supporting each other and something we would encourage.
Scope regularly post blogs aimed at the parents of disabled children in an attempt to get them to share their experiences and even talk to other parents in their situation. There are regular discussion forums online through sites such as mums net or even social media. In August, the Brain Injury Hub held a #homeagain campaign to try and get people to talk about the difficulties faced when undertaking the transition from hospital to home. Many topics were covered such as sleep deprivation, friendships, back to school and challenges with other siblings.
