Time to Change is England’s biggest campaign led by Mind and Rethink Mental Illness to challenge mental health stigma and discrimination. They are currently in their second phase of their campaign and their aims include –

  • Improve public attitudes towards people with mental health problems and to reduce discrimination

  • Increase the confidence and ability of people with mental health problems on how to address discrimination

Their first phase have already seen a reduction in discrimination levels and improvement to the publics attitude, which is a great step forward. They are currently promoting talking about mental health. Their website offers conversation starters as well as tips on how to support someone who has a mental health problem. You do not need to be an expert to talk about mental health just little things like asking someone how they are can be a help.

Time to change are asking us all to take 5 minutes on the 5th February to have a conversation about mental health.

Once you have had your 5 minute conversation visit their website and log your 5 minute activity on their counter, they have an aim of reaching at least 24 hours worth of conversation!

Do your bit and lets break the silence!
