Karen heads up Hyphen Law’s specialist department dealing with wealth protection, future planning and estate administration for individuals. Her work includes: the preparation of Wills, tax planning, the creation and administration of trusts, the preparation and registration of Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPA’s), and Enduring Powers of Attorney, retirement planning issues, such as care fee planning, and probate and estate administration.
Karen will guide you through the process of planning for the future using her expertise to minimise any potential tax liabilities, plan for future care needs and the possibility of mental incapacity or frailty. She can also help you with your Will to ensure all your wishes are carried out and your loved ones are looked after.
Dealing with someone’s assets after they have died requires a sensitive and considered approach at a difficult time. Karen’s extensive experience means she can manage the process efficiently with minimal intrusion. She provides a full estate administration service which includes arranging for assets to be valued and probate to be obtained so that assets are distributed to those entitled to receive them. Karen can also sort out all tax-related issues which may arise following death including inheritance tax and final income tax liabilities. This full administration service also provides the estate’s legal representatives with a full set of accounts to show how everything has been managed and distributed.
From the largest estates worth millions of pounds involving overseas, business and agricultural assets to modest estates, Karen and her team can help.
She also provides invaluable support to Hyphen Law’s Court of Protection and Personal Injury Trust team assisting with tax matters and Statutory Will applications as well as day-to-day general management. Her estate administration experience also allows her to provide a seamless service for Executors and the families of those Hyphen Law has supported during their lifetime.
Activities and Achievements
Karen is an accredited member of Solicitors for the Elderly (SFE) and a qualified member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP). Her STEP qualification requires her to be compliant with the STEP Code of Practice for Will Preparation which is the legal industries gold standard. Karen is also a Dementia Friend.
Outside of work, she enjoys playing the oboe in a local wind band, as well as swimming and spending time with her family.
